Testimonial ![]() So I finally got my memory stick adapter working and can upload the pictures of me and my husband wearing our clothes Ajay made for us. Everything fit great. My blouse was loose but I think I lost weight in the time from order to shipment. So no fault but my own. I did have a question as to washing the sari. Hand wash and hang dry? Also was the petticoat prewashed? The color bled onto me. I was very hot at the wedding and sweated a bit. I am happy to report I saw belly dancing out fits put to use at the wedding. Horray for SCA weddings, acting troupes and bellydancing durring supper Jen & Ven ![]() ![]() |
Sari/Saree
|
Wedding dress in India includes heavy zari saris and lehengas.
These saris and lehengas are either embroidered with glittering gold or silver metal thread are woven into them.
Extensive use of decorative tiny pearls and glass beads make these apparel heavy and special too.
Traditionally, in Indian ceremonies,
very bright colours are used. They are made even brighter by the use of all shiny decorations.
These saris are produced mainly in Benaras. An Indian bride's trousseau is incomplete without a
traditional heavy sari from Benaras. In the changing fashion trend the colors have become
pastel and of lighter shades. However, the embroidery and weaving in of gold and silver still exists
with much prominence. To these metal threads a new glitter of bronze has been added in the last few years.
The designs woven or embroidered primarily include floral and leaves motifs. The dancing figures,
auspicious symbols and series pictures of epics are also quite popular in designs on this apparel.
The Indian sari has found its way not only in India, but also in similar ceremonies in the west.
